Walter Nutter had been a coach for the present U15 lacrosse team since the start of the TYLA program. He was also a well respected coach for football and hockey. Having played at what is now UMassLowell, Walter brought a knowledge of the game that comes from experience. Coach Nutter stressed the importance of the true essence of lacrosse - a quiet toughness, unselfishness and respect for teammates, coaches and officials. Walter passed away just before Christmas 2004, after battling an aggressive brain tumor. Before our first game, the players decided to dedicate this season to the memory of Coach Nutter. He will be remembered by all as a devoted husband, father, friend and coach.
